VISTAPRINT LAUNCHES CUSTOM EMBROIDERY SERVICE

Patented visualization software automates accurate conversion of images into stitch patterns - eliminating setup fees and minimum orders associated with traditional embroidery

Vistaprint N.V. (Nasdaq: VPRT), a leading online provider of professional marketing products and services to micro businesses and the home, today announced an embroidery service that capitalizes on advanced visualization and computer-aided design software to eliminate typical setup and design costs while providing access to high-quality, custom-branded apparel with no minimum order amount.

“Embroidery is a centuries-old art form,” said Robert Keane, Vistaprint’s president and CEO. “The time and skill it takes to decorate a garment with an intricate, multi-colored pattern is one reason that this kind of image promotion was out of reach unless you could afford to buy large amounts of branded gear.”

Although the thread stitching process itself has become a routine manufacturing operation, due to design, set-up and stitch fees, small or limited runs for custom embroidered clothing tends to be too cost-prohibitive for many small businesses.

“Technology now allows us to eliminate traditional costs and constraints. We can provide a level of customization that gives small businesses an affordable way to access the same quality in embroidered products that was far more expensive in the past,” Keane said.

Vistaprint signaled its entry into the growing embroidery market (topping $8.5 billion annually in North America alone) with its 2010 acquisition of SoftSight, Inc. Vistaprint holds or has pending over 15 patents around its embroidery process, including capturing, optimizing and managing visual objects. Its software automates a number of steps previously done manually, such as analyzing color or expressing an image’s smallest visual elements as a thread design in order to render accurate stitching patterns in more efficient and cost-effective way.

Providing access to this system through its website, Vistaprint allows customers to turn the promotional messages they select into custom-embroidered apparel for production runs with minimum orders of a single item. There are no setup fees, no stitching charges and, as with all Vistaprint orders, a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee.

Customers can order embroidered apparel on http://www.vistaprint.com/embroiderysale from a line of polo shirts, hooded sweatshirts and baseball caps. Prior to completing any purchase, they obtain dynamic previews of their design to ensure satisfaction with the quality of the work. The site’s technology dynamically computes thousands of attributes for each thread and stitch in a design. A patent pending algorithm then generates a richly detailed image of the finished article, displaying major characteristics such as the embroidery’s texture and corresponding three-dimensionality, as well as the subtle light-reflection differences between two identical threads stitched adjacent to one another.

“Ten years ago, when small and micro businesses didn’t have access to business cards and printed products that made them look and feel professional, Vistaprint found a way to provide them,” said Embroidery Program Manager at Vistaprint and SoftSight co-founder David Goldman. “By applying the same model of technology-based custom design, pricing efficiency and manufacturing quality to custom embroidered products, Vistaprint can deliver the high-impact products that help a business stand out.”

Customers can design personalized apparel on the company’s site with simple point-and-click tools to specify text and to select fonts, colors and images. Additional customization services, including uploading an existing logo and transforming it into a stitch pattern, are available on a limited basis currently and will be rolled out to more and more Vistaprint users over the next six months.

As with all its products, Vistaprint leverages its technology to assist customers in making sound choices when ordering custom designs. For example, if the qualities of an image do not translate well into embroidery, the site helps customers determine whether other customization methods, such as digital printing, produce an aesthetic result that better serves their marketing purposes.

Vistaprint offers a multitude of products and services for both micro businesses and the home. Products include printed options such as business folders, graduation invitations, save the date magnets, and vinyl banners; promotional apparel like hats and T-shirts; and marketing services such as websites and email marketing.

Virginia-Based Auto Repair Shop to Receive $10,000 Marketing Makeover

Vistaprint N.V. (Nasdaq: VPRT), a leading online provider of professional marketing products and services to micro businesses and the home, today announced that DRP Collision Repair of Powhatan, Virginia has been selected as a winner of the Vistaprint “Make an Impression” contest. This uniquemicro business will receive a marketing makeover valued at $10,000 from Vistaprint.

Over 875 U.S.-based micro businesses entered Vistaprint’s contest for a chance to receive one of four $10,000 marketing makeovers. The grand prize packages include a $600 HP gift card, a Web commercial produced byPixability and a full marketing package – including a targeted direct mail campaign - designed by Vistaprint’s creative design team. The goal of the contest was to give four deserving businesses the chance to take that next step and truly market themselves like they never had before.

DRP Collision was the lone “start-up” to be selected as a contest winner. The reason they were chosen was based on owner Kendall Ickes' compelling stance on customer satisfaction. Despite being a new business shop, the company is focused on customer satisfaction and making a big first impression. DRP Collision has already seen some success with a small marketing push, but expects to see more with the prize package.

“We are very excited to be selected as one of the contest winners,” said Ickes. “Getting your name out there as a new company is very tough. We have seen some success from our initial marketing efforts with brochures and flyers and can’t wait to work with Vistaprint to create our new materials. Hopefully it will help us drive more business.”

Founded in 2010, DRP Collision Repair strives to achieve 100% satisfaction and backs up all of their work with a limited lifetime warranty. The company’s mission is to provide repairs and service that matches their 100 percent satisfaction guarantee and also offers free estimates and claim handling. DRP Collision is fully-staffed with graduates or current enrollees of the J. Sargent Reynolds Community College AAS Degree program for Auto Body Collision and holds I-CAR Platinum certifications.

“In this economy it is extremely difficult for new companies to get their name out to the community. We have heard from many businesses that one of the areas they cut back on first is marketing,” said Bridget O’Brien, vice president of marketing communications at Vistaprint. “Kendall’s team is focused on creating lasting relationships with their customers and our team is very excited to help them catch the eyes of potential customers.”

Winners of the "Make an Impression" contest were selected by a panel of Vistaprint executives as well as voting done on the contest micro site. Entries received up to 30 points for originality, how they would use the prize package, entrant industry and up to 10 points from the open voting period. NORTHFIELD COLLISION NAMED WINNER IN VISTAPRINT’S MAKE AN IMPRESSION CONTEST

New Jersey-Based Auto Repair Shop to Receive $10,000 Marketing Makeover

Vistaprint N.V. (Nasdaq: VPRT), a leading online provider of professional marketing products and services to micro businesses and the home, today announced that Northfield Collision Repair of Livingston, New Jersey has been selected as a winner of the Vistaprint “Make an Impression” contest. Themicro business will receive a marketing makeover valued at $10,000 from Vistaprint.

Northfield Collision was picked as a winner because owners Jennifer and John Condron’s story is one that many micro business owners can relate to. The business was founded after a failed business deal put the Condrons out of employment. Like all entrepreneurs the family puts everything into the business. They currently work 60-70 hour weeks and have limited time to market their business. That will change now that they have been selected as one of Vistaprint’s contest winners.

“We are honest and hardworking people who believe now is the time to make a difference,” said Jennifer Condron. “Our customers are like new friends and we do everything we can to make them feel at home. We haven’t been active at all in advertising and we’re excited that Vistaprint is going to help us market our business.”

Founded in 2001, Northfield Collision has been a shop that focuses on customer satisfaction. Since taking over the company earlier this year, the Condrons have made it a point to get to know every customer and believe in the power of an honest handshake and a smile. To build customer loyalty, the company offers daily status updates of repairs and also offers vehicle pickup and delivery service to reduce customer rental expenses. To assist customers without collision coverage on their vehicle, Northfield Collision also offers affordable pricing. Their traditional approach has been successful as they have expanded their business to include a second location with a full detail center.

“Business relationships used to be built on face-to-face interactions and handshakes, so in a way Northfield Collision is a throwback business,” said Bridget O’Brien, vice president of marketing communications at Vistaprint. “Apart from this personality behind the company, they haven’t done much marketing. Our team is excited to bring their motto of ‘Now you truly have a friend in the business’ to marketing materials. We hope that this will help increase their local exposure.”

Winners of the “Make an Impression” Contest” were selected by a panel of Vistaprint executives as well as voting done on the contest micro site. Entries received up to 30 points for originality, how they would use the prize package, entrant industry and up to 10 points from the open voting period. ACCENT HOME STAGING NAMED WINNER IN VISTAPRINT’S MAKE AN IMPRESSION CONTEST

Atlanta-Based Home Stager to Receive $10,000 Marketing Makeover

Vistaprint N.V. (Nasdaq: VPRT), a leading online provider of professional marketing products and services to micro businesses and the home, today announced that Accent Home Staging from Atlanta, Georgia has been selected as a winner of the Vistaprint “Make an Impression” contest. Themicro business will receive a marketing makeover valued at $10,000 from Vistaprint.

Over 875 U.S.-based micro businesses entered Vistaprint’s contest for a chance to receive one of four $10,000 marketing makeovers. The grand prize packages include a $600 HP gift card, a Web commercial produced byPixability, and a full marketing package – including a targeted direct mail campaign - designed by Vistaprint’s creative design team. The goal of the contest was to give four deserving businesses the chance to take that next step and truly market themselves like they never had before.

Accent Home Staging was picked as a winner in part because owner Amy Powers’ story is one that undoubtedly resonates with micro businesses everywhere. With a husband who was recently laid off and needing to provide for her three children, Powers works as a home school teacher while also running her micro business as a home stager. Both time and resources have held her back from truly growing and expanding. Now she’ll have an opportunity to truly succeed.

“I am a mom of three children, a wife, a home school teacher and run a growing small business,” said Powers. “I don’t always have time to get out there and market, but this package is truly going to make a difference. It will give me an edge in reaching out to new customers and help me keep up with my local competitors. I am overwhelmed and encouraged by the opportunity Vistaprint has given my business.”

Accent Home Staging is one of the leading experts in the metro-Atlanta real estate staging industry, serving clients since 2007. Home staging is preparing a home to sell by creating an environment that attracts buyers. Accent Home Staging specializes in medium to high-end luxury enhancement for vacant and occupied homes and offers services that will attract buyers before they enter the home, typically within 30-45 days.

“Amy’s story is one that we hear time and time again. She’s working hard at growing her own business while also holding another job to bring in money to support her family. But like so many others, she hasn’t had the time or resources to truly focus on marketing her business and acquiring new customers,” said Bridget O’Brien, vice president of marketing communications at Vistaprint. “We’re thrilled that we can give a micro business like hers an opportunity to expand and truly make it a success, but the work she has already done to get it off the ground is extraordinary.”

Winners of the “Make an Impression Contest” were selected by a panel of Vistaprint executives as well as voting done on the contest micro site. Entries received up to 30 points for originality, how they would use the prize package, entrant industry and up to 10 points from the open voting period, the full contest terms and conditions can be found here: http://bit.ly/9BSe46.
